Worship

Worship is at the heart of our life as church. Here we come together, an amazing variety of people before God, to worship, listen and grow.

We have a variety of styles of worship, at different times across the Parish aimed to suit everyone.  We welcome and cater for all ages and so children are very welcome. Both churches have toilet and kitchen facilities. The regular times, locations and styles are given below, but we often have other special services:

Sundays

8.00am  St Martins - Holy Communion (said)

A quiet, reflective start to the day and week; a shorter, 'said' service, simple in style, with a minimum of ceremony using the Book of Common Prayer(1662) type service (order 2).

9.45am  St Martins  First Sunday- All Age Worship

A specially all age 'family-friendly' service, shorter, informal and simple, with a greater use of songs and with active involvement of children. However this service aims to meet the needs of the whole church family together.

11.15am St Martins (First Sunday)

A fully sung BCP Holy Communion service for those who like a traditional service with hymns, but no choir.

9.45 am St Martins (Not First Sunday).

A more traditional sung Communion service, but including a mix of older and newer music, with the service sung to a congregational setting. We use Common Worship order One. We use a shorter service on particular occasions or when the Sunday School is on holiday.

Children go to to Sunday School during the first part of the service and Sermon, and rejoin the service before the prayer of consecration. Refreshments are served after the service.

St Peter's Church, Herne Drive, Greenhill

11:15 am St Peter's (Refreshments at 11am)

A specially 'family-friendly' service, informal, with a greater use of songs and instrumental music. We normally celebrate Holy Communion  (Common Worship Order One) on the 3rd Sunday but this may change from time to time.
