Quest for poems in
| We started out with the idea of walking to Herne to research the poems but the weather got the better of us. The poem describes the walk and the joy of finding a warm hostelry. . |
Christmas slumber, sleepy heads,
Laid in past twelve in their beds.
To
But first some sustenance and tea.
All were wrapped with scarves and hood.
The sky released much wind and rain
Down footpaths where brave walkers go,
The mud smooth like chocolate fountains flow.
Into Chestfield, out again Molehill road we mosey,
Our fingers froze, our noses cold, we are far from feeling
cosy.
Onward through the weather we marched like soldiers to our cause,
And spotted through beads of rain a friendly pub to pause.
The Share & Coulter welcomed us with warmth and food and
drink
We looked as if we had been brought back from the brink.
Whisky, ginger wine warmed us up right through,
The meals were piping hot with portions built for two.
The quest for research unanswered but the poems at least
begun.
